A play to control defensive tempo

This play is a way to control defensive tempo. By that I mean you can slow the defense up by gashing their blitz, thus getting them out of blitz packages.

This play has been with me for years (madden 06-08) and then I just stopped running it. I dont know why, it was a perfect play. I was using this play as one of my staples in my Madden 08 (nxt gen/current) UNDER CENTER OFFENSE!!!! when everyone and their mama said you couldnt play undercenter.

This play will not pick up 20 yds on the regular (it can if you break tackles and all that good stuff) but it will consistently give you 3, 5, 7 yard gains that add up. Dont think the defense isnt paying attention to the damage.

(the in route can be replaced with a slant in if it suits you better)
(the FB can be replaced with a running back......this is encouraged)

What this play does is it controls the entire field by basically controlling the blitz.
There is no area a defense can blitz from that can be exploited by a route. Both flats, and the middle of the field are exploitable if thats where they want to send heat to.

How to read this play?
Well you read the whole field at once lol.
And you throw where the blitz is coming from...simple isnt it

But dont just think this play is only useful vs the blitz only
Here are the reads vs regular coverages (man, cover 2,3,4)

Man-Your backs COULD have a speed advantage so be aware of that possibility but the TE is the main guy. On occasion you will have a 1 on 1 matchup outside, if u like it you can take advantage of it.

Cover 3- TE

Cover 2- The RBs might have some space to make the catch and head upfield before they get to the CBs, so be aware of that. The TE also may have a hole where you can hit him as well. But the main guys you want to look at are the streaks. they WILL be open once they get off of the bump (if there is one)

Cover 4- RBs/TE

This is a solid play to add to any scheme. So take it, lab it, learn it, love it.

Colonel OUT!!!!!
